Merlin Mann’s - Inbox Zero

Jul

E-mail has gone from a cool new way to stay in touch with people, to the standard form of communication. Because of this, our inboxes are getting more and more cluttered, and now we have to decide how to handle the overwhelming amounts of e-mails, and how to do this efficiently and effectively. Merlin Mann (43folders, 5ives, The Merlin Show) has come up with a system to help us with this constant struggle. He recently presented this to a group of folks at Google, and was kind enough to not only post this video on his site, but also posted the code so that anyone can post it on their site. So, without further ado:

Great work Mr. Mann.

Site Redesign

Jul

18

So, I've done it again. I've redesigned my site.... AGAIN. The last redesign was only 5 months ago, but I must admit that design was just a stepping stone to this one. If you recall, I wanted something less busy, as I thought the previous design was starting to get a bit too crazy, and I was adding stuff to it just for the sake of adding stuff to it. With the last design, I got rid of all the unnecessary garbage, and I must admit, I really liked it. I've continued with that idea in this new design, but I've added a bit more. The "more" in this case, however, was not added for the sake of adding. I really thought it through, and only added "more" cause I thought "more" was necessary.

A ‘Maniacal’-ly Rave Review

Jul

12

Folks, I've spent this past week enjoying a fantastic podcast: The Maniacal Rage Podcast (formerly the Garrett Murray Podcast). I'm listening to Epis ode 12 right now as a matter of fact, and am loving it. I don't really listen to podcasts to be honest with you, but when I heard this one, I was hooked. The reason: It's hilarious, and it's about random funny topics - that's all. It has nothing to do with web design or technology or anything of that nature. It's just plain old funny. And funny is what I need when sitting in front of my computer 10 hours a day, coding websites.

There are currently 21 episodes of which you can listen. The first 18 are referred to as the Garrett Murray podcast (hence the URL). The reason for the change, is because Garrett is always joined by his friend Shawn Morrision, and they decided it'd make sense to change the name. Both of these guys are very funny, run-of-the-mill kinda guys who work well together.

So, I highly recommend having a listen. You won't be disappointed.
