When I first heard "Nothing Left To
Lose", Mat Kearney's
single on the radio, I thought it was the latest from Coldplay.
Yeah, his voice sounds that much like Chris Martin's. At
first, you'd think this is a bad thing. However, it
works... And it works well.
In addition to the songs that sound like Coldplay, he's incorporates a completely different style in a majority of his songs in which he raps ("Undeniable", "Girl America", "In The Middle", "Wait", "Bullet"). These are remeniscent of former "House of Pain" rapper Everlast with his solo album "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues".
If I were to tell you that you could mix Everlast with Coldplay and get a great sound, you'd probably think I was crazy. Well, here you go "Mat Kearney - Nothing Left To Lose", give it a listen. I'm bettin' you're gonna enjoy it. It'ss a great album that you can put in, hit play, and not have to worry about skipping any tracks.
