Chalk One Up for the Good Guys!

A good friend of mine recently sent me an e-mail:

For the last couple days my internet has been shutting down frequently with the "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" message.
It seems to happen after I switch to pages that have some sort of sound or action on them. For example, it ALWAYS happens when I go to the forgottenfour myspace page, which automatically plays a song.
I think this started right after I downloaded some system updates. Could that be related?
Is there anything you can think of that I should do?

Wolfmother

Aug

WolfmotherAs a youngster, I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock. Why? Cause I have an older brother, and I wanted to be like him, so I listened to what he listened to. Nowadays, that kind of rock music is hard to come by. So, if I wanted to listen to some great, pure rock music, I'd throw some Led, or Who, or some Queen, or Sabbath onto the old iPod. And I'd be happy. This is my idea of great rock. You don't hear that from new artists anymore. At least not until recently.

This past weekend, a good friend of mind recommended listening to this band he came across. He said they reminded him of a cross between Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. They're called "Wolfmother". And he was right. These guys rock. Much like "Jet", they're a new group with classic rock tendancies. And it's no surprise then, that these guys are produced by the same guy (D. Sardy). Lead singer Andrew Stockdale would take home the trophy at a karaoke contest if he had to sing "Paranoid", or "War Pigs", he sounds that much like a young Ozzy. And if you took the vocals away, you'd swear you were listening to some Zeppelin.

In short, the riffs are heavy, the drums are loud, the singing dramatic, and the lyrics are simple. It's classic rock minus a few years.

Debug JavaScript in IE

Aug

01

I ALWAYS use Firefox to debug my JavaScript code. There are plenty of plugins that allow for you to easily debug problems in your code. But what about when your code runs perfectly fine in Firefox, but not in IE? How do you debug your JavaScript code in IE? I've finally found the answer:

Step 1 - Enable script debugging.

Now the process for doing this is obvious. Go to "Tools -> Internet Options... -> Advanced". From here, find "Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer)", and "Disable Script Debugging (Other)". Now, follow me here... To enable script debugging, you need to uncheck these boxes. Very intuitive, I know. Once you've unchecked these two boxes, click "OK".
