Wolfmother

WolfmotherAs a youngster, I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock. Why? Cause I have an older brother, and I wanted to be like him, so I listened to what he listened to. Nowadays, that kind of rock music is hard to come by. So, if I wanted to listen to some great, pure rock music, I'd throw some Led, or Who, or some Queen, or Sabbath onto the old iPod. And I'd be happy. This is my idea of great rock. You don't hear that from new artists anymore. At least not until recently.

This past weekend, a good friend of mind recommended listening to this band he came across. He said they reminded him of a cross between Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. They're called "Wolfmother". And he was right. These guys rock. Much like "Jet", they're a new group with classic rock tendancies. And it's no surprise then, that these guys are produced by the same guy (D. Sardy). Lead singer Andrew Stockdale would take home the trophy at a karaoke contest if he had to sing "Paranoid", or "War Pigs", he sounds that much like a young Ozzy. And if you took the vocals away, you'd swear you were listening to some Zeppelin.

In short, the riffs are heavy, the drums are loud, the singing dramatic, and the lyrics are simple. It's classic rock minus a few years.

Patrick, I couldn’t agree more, I came across these guys when a classic rock loving friend of mine suggested them. I thought exactly the same, Zeppelin and Sabbath together means Wolfmother. For a trio, they produce so much sound, they’re doing an amazing job of bringing an good old sound back. Just a few suggestions from you’re good friend… The Arctic Monkeys: an English Indie Rock group that puts out very catchy, uptempo, and very original tunes. The Shins: I just pulled this band outta the movie Garden State, Natalie Portman’s character listens to them in the movie, so I listened to them, it’s very relaxing. That’s all for now, great review.
